PV5 & PV6 Database Repair: Do it Yourself
Q: How do I know if my database is corrupted?
A: If you get a message like this upon attempting
to open your database.

or

or, you get an error when attempting to Compact the database.
Q: What do I need to fix it myself?
A: (1) Microsoft Access 2000, 2002 or 2003
(2) Parts&Vendors database repair kit.
(3) Your
Parts&Vendors program.
(4) A bit of patience, as this is a DO-ALL OR DO-NOTHING ACTIVITY.
A typical repair session takes about 30 minutes.
If you wish to perform this procedure:
Download the
database repair kit.
We suggest that you save it into a separate folder such as:
C:\database_repair
The kit includes the repair_database.pdf file
with detailed step-by-step instructions.
If you do not wish to tackle this yourself and need assistance with a corrupted data
file, we can attempt to fix it for you.
1) Send email to
support@trilogydesign.com and attach a zipped copy of your broken database.
We don't need your .ldb file.
2) If your data file is password protected, you MUST include your .pwd
file (not to be confused with securities and permissions and user logins to your
P&V database).
3) Tell us what P&V version it is (3.1, 4.0, 5.0 or 6.0)
4) Provide (one of) your valid license numbers.
We will attempt to fix your database and, if successful, will return it to your reply
address.
Note: We are not a data recovery service. There is no charge for our work
on your data file.
We will consider
the file to be company private, of course, and will not reveal its contents to
anyone for any purpose.
